Dining with Notebook #8 -- Principle: Clap for and tip the Musicians
If you are in a restaurant or bar like La Bodeguita del Medio or Mango Caribbean Restaurant & Bar that is not a music venue per se, but has a musician playing in the bar or dining room, make sure that you show your appreciation for the musician. Too often the musician fades into the wallpaper as the patrons eat, drink, laugh and chat, which can appear to be rude. By recognizing when the performer has come to the end of a song and applauding appropriately, the savvy Dining with Notebook insider can get the attention of the hospitality staff as well as the musician. An even more sincere form of appreciation is to contribute to the tip jar. You don't have to be flashy while showing your appreciation as the staff will notice you, because you'll stand out from the rest of the patrons who have let the player fade into the background.
Remember, restaurant and bar patrons who stand out in a good way receive the best dining and drinking experience._ _ _ _
The Dining with Notebook Manifesto and Principles are a way for every restaurant diner to get the best restaurant experience.

Hi Yoony, If a particular song really gets my attention I tip at the end of the song. I usually leave one to three dollars depending on how long I listened and how much enjoyment I got.
Thanks for the questions. Cheers, -carter j
