Dining with Notebook #18 -- Principle: Tip heavy for great service
Nothing elevates a restaurant patron to the status of favored regular faster than recognizing great service with a great tip. Remember that wait staff get a sub-minimum wage because of the assumption that they will supplement their wages from the restaurant with tips. Also know that in some restaurants, servers share part of their tips with the bartender and/or the bus staff. Something else to do is throw in a little cash along with the tip you add to your credit card slip. I have never seen a situation where gaining a reputation as a great tipper is nothing but a good thing for the patron.
